My car is parked across the street in the Target parking lot under what I hope is a working light post. A fine thick sheen of rain glosses the windows until everything is blurry, flashes of color against the dark night.

This would be pretty except that it took me an hour to navigated all the flooded streets to get home. A five-minute drive turned into one long frustrating nightmare that ended with me trudging my way from the aforementioned Target parking lot through mid-calf high water to even get into my neighborhood, much less all the way to my house.

Such is life in Houston, Texas, and if I haven't mentioned how much the heat and humidity and mosquitoes the size of Buicks irritate the shit out of me about this city, these type of days are what really seal my non-love for all things Houston. The city planners, oh you, the biggest fucktards of all the fucktards in the land, probably never have to figure another route because Almeda-Genoa turns into a raging river when so much as two heavy raindrops fall simultaneously. And of course, that would have to be the main road to get to the street that leads to my neighborhood, wouldn't it?

Grrr...

My jeans are wet. I am not happy. (This pic was taken upside down.)

My jeans, as you can see from the first pic, are not as dark as they appear below. Yeah, that's because they were soaked through and doing that weird, wet-denim flappy thing when I walked. Add that to the gloppy, squeaky noises my shoes were making - I was a fracking one-woman band, baby. (Those bits of brown you see are chunks of mulch liberated from their beds by all the rain the past 48 hours. Strewn all over the driveway. Whoo.)

This pic was taken, as was the next one, outside the Macy's at Almeda Mall as I sat on the feeder trying to figure out my next move and praying that the cars passing me by wouldn't start me a-floatin'.

Now, on to much more pleasant things, like How I Met Your Mother, which continues its run of pure awesomeness. I love the way they're playing the Ted/Robin relationship. In the background, settled (save for last week's ep when Robin came to a much-needed conclusion about herself but also her and Ted), domesticated. I love that they were Marshall's sounding board as he found himself more and more confusion concerning his relationship with his law school buddy.

I LOVED the Lily/Barney storyline. It was funny. It gave a nice look into Barney. A little more of the same but with a little movement towards some emotional maturi - oh, who am I trying to kid? Barney is going to be hitting the clubs when he's 56 years old and way past his prime, and he'll die whilst "suiting up." Still. I love the lug, and I liked that it was just Lily and Barney. Ensembles are great, especially when they have the kind of chemistry this cast has, but I love when they mix up the pairings.

All in all, great ep, writers, and excellent work, cast. Special kudos to Jason Segal because he's generally made of awesome, but he deserves a mention not just for this week but last week as well. "Uh, only always."

As for The Class, Jason Ritter and Lizzy Caplan remain the biggest draw for me, but I didn't really dig their storyline this week. Meh. The only thing that makes me sad at the prospect of cancellation is that those two will be out of a job, once again, and no longer cute-ing up my TV screen every week.

(RIP, Related. RIP.)

Now, as for Heroes. Okay. The writers are KILLING me. Every week, I'm on the edge of my seat, and as the ep draws to a close, my anxiety level increases. I have to say this ep was rather low-key compared to the last few weeks - I mean, shit, they hit the ground running with that pilot - but there were some high points. It's not like I don't need a little reprieve, either.

Finally - FINALLY! - Peter seeks out Papa Suresh only to find Mohinder in his place. (I'm happy they didn't recognize each other.) Dude, no wonder Papa took his research to play elsewhere, Mohinder, if all it takes is one setback to send you packing. (Side note: what is with the changing pics of Papa Suresh on the back cover of his book? Last week the pic was of Erick Avari whereas before it was someone else [even the voice didn't match from the message on the answering machine] and this week its back to the other actor. WHAA?) BUT, it's nice that the "heroes" are starting to come together. AT LAST.

Holy hell, Isaac's "painting" the future was rather unsettling, if only because his eyes had that look Claire's did when she was "dead." Interesting though that it seems (from the previews, anyway) that Claire is the focal point so far. Is it because of Horn-Rimmed Dad? Or something else? (Fracking frack, Horn-Rimmed Dad's "partner" = on par with Sylar in the creepiness department. Like whoa, folks.)

Then you have that convergence of them in Las Vegas, only none of them knows it. Which brings me to the big BLAH moment: Niki's superpower is a split personality? Um, sorry? Dude, if I was Niki I'd be pissed, because Sybil had, like, what? Fifty? Girl got cheated, but then when your split personality can bring the whoopass like that, maybe the one is really all you need.

Annnd - that ending. They weren't kidding with the previews last week. That ending just about took the cake. Hiro looked so different; Mom (even if a little tipsy) turned to me and asked, "Who's that?" No accent. The glasses gone. Hair in some kind of ponytail.

Guh.

Next week's preview looks even more jaw-dropping. That's Nathan, right? In the scrub bottoms (hello, yummy), flying off like a rocket. Were the Claire scenes of her in the hospital post "accident" with the football player of pure evil? Argh.

Did I mention the writers are KILLING me? Because they so are.

With that, I'm off to bed. 'Night, folks.
