It had the less expensive apartments compared to the ones I found in Stamford or any of the other nearby areas, and since he wasn't going to have a roommate to help share the costs, it seemed prudent he live a lot cheaper.

The other: JIM ALWAYS EATS A HAM AND CHEESE SANDWICH, NOT TUNA! Actually, on one of the deleted scenes from the first season, Jim chews out Dwight for throwing out his tuna fish sandwich. I think that whole schtick about the ham and cheese came about during season two. However, my point with the tuna fish sandwich was to show that he was trying, even in the most ridiculous, minute ways to be different. To be a different Jim.
