I may be going out on a limb here when I say I think our excitement about this coming weekend in Vegas may be hitting a fever pitch. Today The Peon sent out a group email with a detailed forecast of the weather he'd copied and pasted from weather.com. Um, yeah. Thanks?

Of course, my excitement is tempered by the fact that I'm sickly. My sinuses have decided that this unusual Houston winter is, in fact, too much, and I'm currently popping Chlor-Trimeton like it's candy and flashing as my temperature fluctuates like a fucking bouncing ball in those ridiculous sing-a-longs. FYI, the accompanying sweats are the bestest thing EVAR! I dressed warmly since it's not supposed to hit above 65 today (I'm a southern wimp, okay? THIS is why I will not be moving to Chicago. Have you SEEN the weather up there?! JesusMaryandJoseph), but now that I'm all breaking fever and shit, I'm getting that damp feeling in the pits. *rolls eyes in disgust* God, I hate it when my body decides to conspire against me.

Grr.

But I did manage to finally wander my way over to Borders to pick up a copy of American Gods this past weekend. I showed it to Mom. The only thing she gets fangirly over is books, so she was immediately, "AS SOON AS YOU FINISH, GIVE IT TO ME!" I didn't have the heart to mention she won't have any time to read it in the next few months between school, clinicals and work. She was simply too excited.

Uh. I hope you get well soon.

Over-the-counter -medicine is great, though, isn't it?

Me, too. We've been planning this trip for quite some time (we started looking up hotel prices last spring, actually) so I will be SERIOUSLY pissed if I have to go to Vegas sick. SERIOUSLY PISSED. Argh.

Dude. It is the awesomest stuff to ever awesome. It also does not require a doctor's visit. Whoo-and-a-hoo squared.

I agree. Patient heal thyself.

Yeah, living it, thanks. :-P The part of me that is and always will be an Oklahoma girl is curled in a fetal position crying "it's coooooold!"

Oh you poor baby! I cannot imagine. When I started researching Chicago it just really didn't compute since the weather up until last month was unseasonably mild. But then it was cold here (averaging highs between the 40s and 50s) and extremely wet for rather extended period of time (so unlike my swampy Houston), and after trudging through the wind and the cold for the fifty-thousandth time, it dawned on me that I was not meant for cold weather. Most certainly not the kind of cold weather Chicago is famous for. The lake effect? Holy moly. I think I'd last all of half a second.

If I understand this Fahrenheit thingie correctly, you're saying the highs were 4 - 10C? I don't get it. I like it when it's 10C. I find that comfortable. Today it was -36C. We're getting something like 30cm of snow tonight.

Hey, man, I said I was a southern wimp! I make no bones about this. (You're like my aunt and uncle, who find fifty degrees to be perfect t-shirt and shorts weather. Me? I'm layering on the hoodie, the coat, etc.) What made it so intolerable was that a) it is never consistently that cold down here. We had WEEKS of cold weather. Usually we're cold for a couple days, then there's a warm up; and b) it was so wet from all the rain. If I made the mistake of walking on the yard, it would make this disgusting sucking sound as I lifted my foot. The combination just about did me in.

Heh. Yes, we must. I'm taking it with me on the plane so I have something to keep my mind off the fact that I'm speeding along in a tin can 30,000 miles above the earth. *shudder* It's good to have a safety blanket.

Ooh, I finally get to use my new books icon. *claps* Yay!
