I love my local radio station. The morning show always makes me smile, and I love the on-air chemistry between Sam and Michelle and Natalie. When you add in producer Jay and street-man Hunter (oh, you of the lovely voice that makes me go all melty inside), it morphs into awesome with a heavy dash of awesome-spice. They seem to really enjoy each other and make each other laugh. It MAKES my commute in the mornings, when I am so less than willing to give the stupidity leaks driving around the benefit of the doubt.

But then they open the phones to the audience and my fellow Houston-ers make me despair for the human race. For example, after TR Knight came out following Chokegate, most of the audience members said they would no longer buy him as heterosexual George and some even suggested the show's ptb make the character gay. The only one who said he'd have an issue with Burke after Isaiah Washington's fine display of asshattery was Sam, the head DJ. If I hadn't been in the car at the time, or driving, I would have *headdesk* times a million.

Today was another especially fine day. The topic was Antonella Barba from American Idol, and the racy photos of her that have been bombarding the internet since she made it onto AI. Considering that Frenchie Davis was dismissed from the competition after it was discovered that she did porn (or rather had photos of herself posted ON a porn site, although I have heard some involved her "doing" stuff of a porn-ish nature), people are all a-twitter that Antonella hasn't also been dismissed, and are even raising objections, going so far as to hold a rally against American Idol.

That's neither here nor there, as I can't speak on the subject since I've purposely skipped over every post on [livejournal.com profile] ohnotheydidnt regarding the whole thing (save for the post linked above). But then some of the callers this morning raised the idea of morals, and that this is a moral discussion because what Antonella did was immoral. What the hell? Individual morality is SUBJECTIVE. There ARE society norms, but when it all comes down to it, people are going to follow their own moral code, which is usually a grab bag of cultural, religious, and societal norms. What you deem inappropriate or wrong does not mean the same holds true for the rest of us.

Oh, humanity.

And, Jake, honey, you totally ARE a boy scout and it’s lovely and adorable. My crush is in FULL BLOOM.

Maybe this will serve as a lesson for all those young women shaking their cans on MySpace and whatnot, that those pictures will follow them around forever, and when they've graduated uni and are trying to get jobs with such and such firm those photos are only a click away. Heh.

Definitely. In this day and age you can't go all willy-nilly about shit. It will ALWAYS come back to bite you in the ass when you least expect it.

Well, at least the flip side to this equation is, the truly just and amusing flip side, you know that guy you wrote about who wrote those fucked up pro-rape articles to get back at all the girls who were mean to him in high school? Well, every time a potential employer or, if he should be so lucky, girlfriend googles him, those are going to pop up. And I say hah.

And that thought warms the cockles of my little heart, too. Excuse me while I cackle with glee.
