I went over to the UT Nursing school to grab a salad from their little deli (oh, French Corner, your boxed lunches may suck like a Dyson but your salad with grilled chicken is hum-inducing yummy), and fuck was it gorgeous outside! One of those rare spring days – high, warm sun, cool shade, and a lovely, gentle breeze – that Houston experiences about four times a year. It made for a nice jaunt across the courtyard between the buildings.

I'm definitely driving home with the windows down this afternoon.

You know, a week ago last Monday we woke up to 15cm of snow. (The next day we were in shorts, ankle deep in slush.) But the point of this story is, yesterday the puppy doogle and I were out for a run and I felt great, I had fantastic lung capacity and my calf and thigh muscles were strong, and I realized I hadn't felt that good since the fall, and for a while I'd been sort of distantly worried about the fact that I'd been dragging my ass around and I hadn't had an answer for why I felt so sickly and unfit and I was afraid all that time that I had something bad and it was just allergies!!! Okay, this is the real point of the story, the daffodils are up and I think it may finally be spring.

Yeah, the weather has been completely wacky this spring. Even down here. Not even three weekends ago, my grandmother got buried under five inches of snow and ice. In April. In Texas.

But yay! You finally have spring! We tried daffodils in our front bed the first year we were in the house. It did not turn out well. One of the few plants Mom and I can kill.

And OMG, I just realized your icon is Olivia Hussey in Black Christmas. Is it towards the end when she's hiding in the basement? *shudder* Just waiting.

Yep. I'm surprised you've even seen it. I love it, and I especially love the fact that she kills the wrong guy. Hah! Trivia: Black Xmas is what is known as a tax shelter film, from the period in the 70's when middle class types were investing in feature films as tax shelters.

Yeah. I rented it a few months back. I'm trying to catch up on all the classic horror films, actually.

I love it, and I especially love the fact that she kills the wrong guy.
That was fantastic. I knew he wasn't the guy (way too easy), and I was shouting at the TV, "NO! He isn't the guy!" But still. That'll teach him to try to keep his girlfriend from exercising her right to do with her body what she wishes.

Yes! Can't wait. Oh, and speaking of, is it possible Joss is finally coming through on that long ago promise, re: Buffy and Xander? Could it be? I'm trying to stay calm, or rather, my hopes from reaching the stratosphere as it will make the truth that much easier to take.

How are you getting your Buffies? Are you actually venturing in a comic book store? (You should, at least once, for the sake of anthropology.) Anyhow, Wednesday is new comics day, so Diamond should be shipping out your Buffy #3.

I ordered them through Things From Another World. It's lovely. They charge my credit card, I get my lovely Buffies once a month, and all is right in the world.

Oh, I've been to a comic book shop. Chio's parents and brothers co-owned a shop at Almeda Mall for several years.

I just picked mine up. My comic book guy only orders two, one for me and one for another guy - apparently Dark Horse doesn't sell around here. And he ordered one of each variant. He put the good variant in my file. Made me feel loved.

Ah, yes. Your #1 Fan. Heh. I'm kind of jealous. Well, I'd be jealous if I knew what the hell you mean by variant.

In the 1990's, comic collecting got out of control. It is called, I kid you not, "The Speculator Boom of the 1990s." People were buying a million copies of every issue, there were all these "special events" and crossovers, and the practice of variant covers began, which is the same comic, with different cover art. What ended up happening is what always happens in situations like this - the bottom fell out of the market.
