I am officially a college student now. I went yesterday to register and I am on my way to that English degree. Yes, since I haven't posted in a million years (work, why must you get in the way of my LJ life?), this seems like it's coming out of nowhere, but this has been coming together for a few months now. I don't know. I'm weird, people! I didn't want to talk about it until it was real or something.

So now Rae (who is a fellow LJer now) and I are both college freshman.

Annnyway, along college lines, m'friend [livejournal.com profile] affectingly put together an awesome post listing the Top Ten Reasons You Should Be Watching Greek. Seriously. It's AWESOME. It captures everything I love about the show and articulates it beyond my usual, "SQUEE!LOVE!OMG!*SQUISH*"

And that's about it as far as real-world and fan-world Beth news goes. Aside from the whole capslock freakout every five or so seconds that I'm currently keeping exclusively in my head: I have been out of school for ELEVENFREAKINGYEARSOHMYGODWHATTHEFUCK! Which, all in all, DUDES, I'm winning!

I only watched Greek because I am one of those sad Lonelygirl15 fans who wanted to see Jessica Rose in something else. Then suddenly she's off the show.
I was sad.

Oh, and I'd be lying if I didn't watch it a little bit because the girl who plays Frannie (Tiffany DuPont) and I were in school together from pretty much 4th grade on, and I was curious to see what she's up to.

So what was Tiffany like in real life? She comes across as pretty sweet in interviews, but then so does the rest of the cast.

She was a bitchy cheerleader type, IIRC.
But it was high school. We were all bitchy :)

Dude, don't I know it. I was the bitchy theater nerd, and considering how low we were in all things social, damn were we some fucking Snobby McSnobsalots. Our poo so did not stink, yo.

God yes, the theater people at my school were like that (and heaven help you if you didn't spell it theatre). I was involved in some of the productions, but I definitely didn't qualify for that particular clique.
No, I was in the elitist nerd/dorks group. We took honors classes, so we must have been better than everyone else, right?

You would have been with Steven Whatshisname, the one who had on his letter jacket "Veni Vidi Vici" where his first name or nickname should have been. What did he letter in again, besides massive douchey pretention? They were the brainiac crew that was big into Latin. Then there was the other group of brainiacs who were also RIDICULOUSLY cool. They were largely populated by the cute Asian hipster boys (before it was called "hipster") and their equally cute white girlfriends. Oh, the cliques from high school, how I (still) loathe and adore you.

Yeah, sounds about right.
I lettered in choir and speech/debate, like a true nerd.

They screwed us theater folk. We had to be in it for all four years before we could "letter." FUCKERS. What's the point of a letter jacket once you're OUT of high school?

I loved choir. It's the only time my voice is appreciated - in a big group. Alas, to get all my requirements met for my "advanced" diploma, I couldn't take it freshman year and it didn't make any sense after that.

that's unfortunate...same reason I couldn't take it after sophomore year

OMG I LOVE GREEK, TOO! I've only seen the first half of the first season because I was introduced to the show via the DVD set that was released earlier this year, but I LOVED it!

And congratulations on starting college!

Yeah, I found the DVDs cheap when I was up in Idaho for my cousin's graduation. When her younger sister, who is ELEVEN, saw them, she just about died. She's a big Greek. I'm really not sure what to do with that, and she loves her some Scott Michael, too.

And congratulations on starting college!
Thanks!

I guess I'm in good company then? Now it's about figuring out where I want to COMPLETE the degree since San Jac only offers associate degrees and I want my bachelors. Ultimately, the decision will be made by the VA, as I need to figure how much they'll give me for school since my dad was military. Hopefully it will be a LOT so I can quit working and go full time.

Right? I mean, really, I need a new show to watch like a need an extra hole in the head yet I've seen a couple of adverts (nothing beyond like word-of-mouth or fandom discussion) that look pretty good. And I'm like, "NOT ON, CREATORS! I'm going to school now. You need to go into a creative funk like YESTERDAY."

On a non-crazy note, I love me some Ted Mosby. Every time I see that icon, I think of his eventual ass-kicking by future Amber/Bitch. It is so awesome.

Also: HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, V!!!!! I hope it was rocking and rollicking. At least your kind of rocking and rollicking. Personally, a little dinner and a little movie and I have the makings of a fantastic birthday, so.

LOL. Future Amber/Bitch is on every show! HIMYM, House, Mad Men, Bones, Big Love. It's insane! And she's really different in each!

Belated thank you! I did just go to dinner with friends and then we went to see "Hamlet 2." Good times.
