OMFG. I think I got chills at least three times this episode, two of those times having to do with Peter and Hiro. The beginning and the end.
Mr. Bennett continues to confuzzle me. One minute, he's AllEvil!AllTheTime!, fucking around with Matt's head, or rather giving BigBaldDude the order. Then the next he's going after his daughter's would-be rapist and ordering BigBaldDude to "hollow him out." I like that even the villian has his shades of gray, but seriously, he and BBD make for the one-two punch of heebie jeebies.
Although they are still behind Sylar in the all out creepfest.
Poor Matt. He was using his power to read his wife, to reconnect with her, and then the truly shitty side of being a telepath comes into play. Too bad he wasn't a Buffy fan because maybe then he would have had a little warning. I did love it when his wife remarked about the song, "That's been in my head for days," and Matt's all, "I know." Bad enough when that happens to you, but then you have to hear a song playing on repeat in someone else's head? Oy.
I'm leaning more and more towards Peter being an empath. Perhaps, since he seems to take on other's powers when he's around them, he's kind of like Rogue, only non-lethal. The eyes thing was very cool. He totally went Isaac.
Thank God, someone finally listened to him though. Go, Isaac. You are a better person than I because I would have so gotten in a punch or a kick or something. Get that out of the way, then save the cheerleader.
As for what's going after Claire - could it be Sylar? Given what was in that painting, it looked like the top of her head was missing (or was that simply Peter's lacking?).
Nathan's flying bit was awesome. I loved that they did not do any cheesy closeups or anything. Just showed him speeding about, leaving a contrail. Very cool, especially his landing. That had to hurt something fierce.
And of course, dear Hiro was beyond fantastic. I loved his entire conversation with Nathan at the diner. The "ride-o" and the "bom-bom." I liked the juxtaposition of current Hiro and future Hiro. Everything - the way he moves, talks, looks - in future Hiro screams of responsibility, that the weight of being "super" has definitely hit. It's no longer chipper, happy-go-lucky, I-finally-have-a-purpose Hiro. I like that.
Next week, as usual, looks amazing, and they never fail to leave you wanting more. Bastards. Heh.

Date: 2006-10-24 12:51 pm (UTC)Adrian Pasdar. Dude. Nathan has some cojones on him. I like that he turns it all around. One minute, he's all schmoopy over Niki, then he pulls it together to ensure his win. Nice. Unsettling but nice.
Er, WTF did Ando want from Nikki? Ew.
Don't you know? When you pay a girl to strip for you online, that totally means she's hot for you. Duh, B. Heh.

Okay, so I'm looking at this and am I to assume there is some significance behind what letters were capslocked and what were not?

Date: 2006-10-24 07:30 pm (UTC)And Greg Grunberg really IS a mack-daddy. Awesome.
My friend's thought for a long time that Peter's an empath (he knows a lot more about comics and whatnot than I do, so it definitely wasn't my original idea) and tonight I think they played it out well. His powers aren't as strong as anyone else (he can't fly as well as Peter and he can't paint the future as well as Isaac) but to be able to sample from all those different powers? Excellent.
And Hiro is and always will be my favorite. (Well, I like Peter a lot too.) I really, really liked FutureHiro, and I think I'm going to enjoy seeing how this all plays out. Well done, NBC.

Date: 2006-10-24 08:38 pm (UTC)But I want to believe the love comes from a place outside her powers, you know?
Oh, definitely. See, this is where they need to elaborate a little further. From what we saw in the pilot, their powers were only starting to activate. Each seemed to know that there was something inherently special about himself, but it wasn't until around the time of the solar eclipse (not that it's linked, or hell, maybe it is) that their abilities came to the forefront. Or at least, that was my interpretation.
Something triggered their powers into action, and I like to think of it terms of what was stated in the first X-Men movie. The mutant genes were activated or whatever around puberty or sometime shortly thereafter.
So, back to Mr. Bennet. If Claire's powers were dormant all those years, I truly believe from what we've been shown that he loves and adores his daughter. Concerning his sidekick, I'm wondering if Mr. Bennet is a member of some part of a government group who has been keeping tabs on those who display certain abilities for years, hell, even decades. Perhaps some no-name PhD put forth this theory long before Papa Suresh had the knowledge and know-how to back it up.
Or it could go the other way completely, despite all evidence to the contrary. He could be out to protect the heroes.
His powers aren't as strong as anyone else (he can't fly as well as Peter and he can't paint the future as well as Isaac) but to be able to sample from all those different powers? Excellent.
Dude. That is the power to have, imo. Never stuck with the true nuisance of one, like say poor Matt. There was also some speculation over at TWoP that perhaps he'll be able to use his empathic abilities to suss out what another hero's power is, which would be frackin' awesome.
Hiro is my hero of choice, too, and our glimpse at FutureHiro was pretty awesome.
I think I'm going to enjoy seeing how this all plays out.
Ditto.
