I heart Megan McCafferty. I emailed her yesterday to let her know how much I enjoyed Charmed Thirds, and she responded the very same day with a thank you. I hope I manage to be as gracious and responsible with my fans come that faraway day when I'm a published author. Especially if I manage to make such a successful go of it as she has.

In other news, it is HOT down here. It is currently 86ºF (that's 30ºC to you [livejournal.com profile] briary_flower) but feels like 91ºF due to all the fucking humidity. I love living near the coast, but shit, if you aren't right there on the water, you get all the humidity with none of the cool ocean breezes. Of course, from June to November, there is always a chance your house and all the things inside it could end up like a large pile of matchsticks. Or just government property if you're lucky enough to find your house in one piece. Still. I've always loved the idea of living in a cozy beach house.

Which reminds me, hurricane season is coming up, which in turn brings back shudder-inducing memories of last year's Rita debacle. After all that, I'm not sure I would hit the road again, even if a Cat5 had his/her eye on us.

It's so sweet that she wrote you back. A while ago, I picked up a bunch of Judy Blume's at the library and got all nostalgic. I wrote her, and she sent me the cutest email, heh. I think the YA novelists are just more serious about interacting with their fans.

Argh - are there any predictions about the weather this year? I don't imagine folks in your neck of the woods could take much more.

Hey, how was your Easter? Do anything fun? We had some stress, but mostly it was good. F. got a butterfly net from the Easter Bunny, so we spent a lot of time in the woods looking for bugs. Then I took C. for a long walk in her wagon and got a crick in my neck. I was so paranoid she was going to bounce out of it that I was looking over my shoulder the whole time.

I remember the Judy Blume email! That was so cool, because God knows, that woman has ushered many a young girl into the choppy waters of girlhood. Sigh. (I apologize for that metaphor, just not enough to think of something else.)

Personally, I want to remain as ignorant as possible as to what the hurricane season is going to bring. If we get a storm (which people have been saying we're due since we haven't had a major hit in years), I'll deal with it when it comes. Mom is on the ride-out crew again, so it'll be up to me to get the kitties to safe ground.

Easter was really mellow. Mom and I put together Easter baskets for some of the neighborhood kids. Mom was working and her and some of her co-workers put together a nice spread. With the gas prices heading ever upward, I stayed home but she brought me home a plate. Ham, the yummy cheesy scalloped potatoes we made together, and little cornbread muffins I made. Absolutey delish. Basically, I spent the entire weekend reading. Just Listen by Sarah Dessen in addition to Charmed Thirds. I think that's the ideal way to spend a couple of days.

Oh! I got the pictures of the girlies. They are gorgeous! I just want to eat them up and smother them with kisses. F., as always, proves that she would be a hoot to hang with for a few hours. I can only imagine her and C. together as C. gets older. Whew-boy, is Sis going to have her hands full.
